Released JDMA Episode 9

Monday, November 27th, 2006

I released episode 9 of JD’s Musical Alchemy this weekend on Thanksgiving. This show was a mix show featuring some great music from around the net. I also announced two features I added to the podcast. I added a voice mail line at (206) 202-5249 in the US and an Odeo voice mail line which you can use through the link on the website. I haven’t decided yet but I might use the same features for this blog too.

So when you get a chance, check out the new show and leave me a voice mail with your thoughts.

Dagmar 2

I had a chance to interview Jim Bauer and Meghan McGeary of Dagmar over on JD’s Musical Alchemy. For those that may not know, Dagmar is a band based in New York. Their current project is a three album rock opera which they’ve just released their first album “Door No. 1″… This was the second in a new series of spotlight shows I’ve started on the people, bands, and labels that are making independent music so successful. If you get a chance you might want to head over to the show notes and give the show a listen. Alternatively you could click on the podcast player button on this page too.

Special Halloween Episode of JDMA Released

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Happy Halloween!Friday the 13th I released another themed episode of JD’s Musical Alchemy. This show was a mix of music from various artists and genres all with a Halloween theme. A full list of artists and songs is available in the show notes. Among them was a song called “The Pumpkin Grave” by the Martians which is a must hear (not that all the songs aren’t great).

I’m also liking the new format where I’ve shortened the gap between songs in the mix show. It’s all about the music.

The interview show has been doing very well too since it’s release. If you haven’t heard it already check it out over at the podcast site as well. Another interview is already in the works and should be out within the next couple of weeks if all goes well.

New interview with Makar on JDMA

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Makar I’ve made some changes to the format of my podcast over at JD’s Musical Alchemy. The main show I’ve been doing all this time has been taking more preparation time than I have if I’m going to continue doing them regularly. To that end I’ve reduced the amount of information I cover about the bands in the main show. I really liked what I was doing though, presenting information about the bands, so I started a second show to specifically talk about the bands, labels, and people that make independent music so great.

The first of these spotlight shows released last night. It was an interview with the band Makar. I was quite jazzed to do the interview especially since it was the first real interview I’ve ever done. Andrea and Mark were awesome to interview. Lots of laughs and really interesting insight. If you get a chance check out the show and let me know what you think over at the podcast site.

It was a lot of work producing this show but I had so much fun, I can’t wait to get started on the next one.
