JD’s Musical Alchemy Christmas Show

Monday, December 25th, 2006

Merry Christmas everyone… I just released a special Christmas show over on JD’s Musical Alchemy… It also came to my attention that my pre-christmas show which originally came out December 22 had the wrong file attached and I’ve rereleased it with the correct file… It was a real bummer being that my thought was to have it available for Christmas Eve…

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas day wherever you are…

Christmas Shopping Done

Thursday, December 14th, 2006

It was quite the ordeal but we actually got Christmas shopping done and sent off early this year. This isn’t normally the case. Usually we spend more time trying to figure out what we are going to get everyone than actually doing the getting. The result is that we find ourselves holding off on the shipping until we get everything together.

Not only did we finish our shopping, I am quite pleased with some of the gifts. Every year I try very hard to get people things that are just a step up from simply grabbing something off a shelf. It is one thing to buy someone perfume but another to really put your heart and mind into choosing a perfume that really suits their personality. Or alternatively buying a book or game for someone can mean allot more if you take their mannerisms or style into account instead of simply buying based on their known interests.

Regardless, I am so happy were done. Now I’ve got to get geared up for the Christmas show over on JD’s Musical Alchemy.

My Christmas Wish List

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

I’ve started my Christmas wish list early this year, if you can call the end of October early. I decided to make my list on Amazon.com this year since they cover such a broad range of products.

While I am still a very avid gamer I have mostly been playing MMORPG games which have much longer life cycles than most standard single player games. Because of this it isn’t very often I come across a new game I’d like. Currently I am playing World of Warcraft. There is an expansion called the Burning Crusades planed for early next year but that doesn’t help when your talking about a Christmas list.

The Fang by Ideazon

There are some interesting gaming devices I’m interested in though. For one I’m looking for a new keyboard. My main requirement is having USB ports on the keyboard. This really help when you use gaming controllers and such. The other thing is a new game pad. Ideazon makes a gaming pad called the Fang. I’ve been using a Belkin Nostromo n52 for the past couple years and I’ve really enjoyed it. I have found that there are features on it I don’t use though and I really wish it had more buttons. I think the Fang might be the answer.

D&D Play

The other thing I’ve been getting involved in recently has been Dungeons & Dragons. I am in need of all sorts of reference material for the game. It has been great fun sitting down and playing D&D with the family. I play the roll of the Dungeon Master when we play. As such it is my job to develop adventures for them to explore and that’s where the source material comes in. Other than Amazon.com, most of the D&D items can be found at major book stores as well as game specialty stores.

As of the time of this post I’ve got all the essential core rule books either in hand or on order. What remains is maps, treasure, scenarios, and miniatures to play the game with. There is a ton of stuff out there and being that I don’t have anything along these lines yet it was easy to find a bunch of stuff I could use.

I also plan to add a few little things to the list between now and December as I think of them. Stuff like CD’s I’m interested in or perhaps a computer or Nintendo DS game. It should be fun.

4th of July 2006

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

Happy 4th of JulyThe 4th turned out to be a pretty nice day. We had Quinn’s cousin (Andrew) as well as Lori’s parents (Dean and Mavis) over. Apparently they spent the day at the park. From talking to them it sounds like they had fun.

When I got home we went to the grocery store and picked up some pre-cooked chicken and some sides. Afterwards we stopped by a local fireworks stand. We picked up quite a few fireworks for a last minute purchase. It might have been the most fireworks we’ve done on the 4th yet.

After dinner Lori’s dad (Dean) helped with the fireworks. The kids had a bunch of sparklers to burn up and we spent about 3 hours setting off various cones. There are a bout 3 cones that are family favorites which we got lucky enough to pick up again this year. Two in particular are the Crickets and the Purple Rain. As usual these were both beautiful and fun to watch. There was also a spinner we never tried before called the Crazy Ground Hog. This is very much like the Ground Bloom Flower but it explodes into a barrage of crackles at the end. It seemed to me they also spun on the ground longer than the flowers do too. These have become a new favorite over the traditional flowers.

All in all we had a great night. I look forward to next year.
